Slabs & Slab Edge

Hello All,

Why would the slab edge profile not find the edge of the floor?  I opened a new project, made a floor, used slab edge, works great.

Now I been working in another project file, make a floor, use slab edge command, doesn't find it unless I use 3d view.  I copied the floor from the one that works, but renamed it first, & then pasted it into the project I'm working on.  I use the slab edge tool, it works on that one, the one I copied/paste from elsewhere.  I erase the one that doesn't work, create a new one using the type I copied/pasted in, use slab edge tool - IT STILL doesn't work.  For some reason the floors I create in the one project works, the other one it doesn't.

This is where I get frustrated - what did I do or how do I fix this?Smiley Mad

Thanks in advance.....

I may figured it out - view range ....

I had the view range set at 3'10" from footing level - so it would cut thru the door knockdown at the foundation wall.  I placed the slab, and that was at the 1st floor level (4'0" above footing level).

So by having the view range lower than the top of floor (1st floor level), it will not allow you to place a slab edge?

If the floor you're trying to place the slab edge on doesn't fall within the view range of the plan where you're placing it, then no, it won't let you place it.  As a habit, I always use a 3D view with the slab(s) I'm adding the edge to isolated.  That way I can choose to host the slab edge profile to either the top or bottom edge of the slab, as appropriate.

I agree with Ross, I always go 3D when placing slab edges. Until there is an options bar setting that locks a choice of top or bottom edges of the floor, I need to visually ensure I am picking the correct edge, which I don't feel I can do in a plan view. Put those temporary isolate tools to good use.
