Sketchy Lines currently jitters in 3D even if it's applied to a 2D View. This results in the linework then going behind the surface of the element resulting in a white square where there are no visible surface pattern. Setting the jitter/extension to as low as possible still results in these issues. (Jitter 1/Extension 1)
We cannot find a way to solve this that isn't completely BIM-Backwards and ridiculously labour intensive, ruining the construction pack just to create these planning drawings.
The way we currently achieve this look without display issues is having to use Autodesk Impression 3 from 2009 which you cannot install to Windows 10 and it is no longer supported anyway. With all of our computers being upgraded we now only have 1 old machine in the office that has Impression. This is not practical and our IT Security understandably do not like having old non-updated machines in order to preserve our workflow because Autodesk don't care about their customers.
I find it ludicrous you stop supporting Autodesk Impression 10 years ago and STILL offer no alternative or replacement software to fulfill it's role. It's very disappointing considering how much Autodesk products cost and how little effort it would be to support Impression in it's current form. No one is asking for more features, it was functional as it was and Revit cannot do what it does.
Autodesk have been aware of the issue with sketchy lines for at least 3 years and being unable to use this in any view that contains a surface pattern seems to limit the ability to use it in many situations. Could jitter not just be set to be 2D in a 2D view and 3D in a 3D View?
We have looked at Autodesk Sketchbook but that does not fulfill the same purpose.

Your "planning drawings" are done with Sketchy Lines?
Sketch mode workaround...Jitters shows fine only when a wall is made complete transparent... so may be you can have a thin wall ( extra), keep it transparent to capture the brick pattern..( join geometry to get the drawings correct , like window, door cuts)Just an idea for consideration...hope that helps..
Yes, unless the specific planning department prefers DWGs. I'm in the UK if that makes a difference to you.
Thanks for the work around Ganesh. This is similar to an option I explored when trying to make it display correctly. What we done was just split the brick layer into two with the first transparent with the hatch and the second opaque. This obviously came with some display issues.
Your method would work better as you could then filter out these walls in plan but it doesn't feel like a very practical way of working.
Filled Regions appear to display fine. Might be easier to just filled region every sketchy elevation, but again that feels a step back into AutoCAD territory. However only having to do this to 4 Elevations as opposed to trying to make the others look correct after the work around, this might be the only way to get the look we want currently.
If Autodesk cannot provide a genuine solution I think this is the kind of route we will have to go down unfortunately. Ideally I would prefer a method that doesn't require more modelling work for the team but it's starting to appear like that isn't realistic.
