Show foundation layout below floor slab

I have a question which might be simple but not sure how to get it to work. We are an architectural firm so not much detailing in terms of structural is required besides showing the foundations in out grade floor slab.

I tried view range but that did not work. What I figured and am using for the time being is placing the two views on a sheet which works but is there another way to do it? In section they look as follows:

You can join the foundation with the floor element (which you seem to have done already) and work with both the view range and from the properties panel again

  • View Discipline (Architecture vs Structure)
  • Show Hidden Lines (All vs By Discipline)

Edit: See images below

IF Geometry Floor/Foundation NOT JOINED - Adjust view Depth to intersect with the foundation, this way latter will show as hidden when below slab or as beyond when not obscured by other elements

That saved me lots of works and several unnecessary views. I have to admit though I did not really understand the difference between Hidden and Beyond

Hidden: any element obscured by another element

  • Applies to all categories
  • can Discipline oriented/managed

Beyond: any element which is below the View Range Bottom Clip plane and Intersects the View Depth Plane

  • Applies to almost all categories (there are a few exceptions)
  • Is not Discipline related
  • doesn't need to be entirely within the view depth
