Show Different Cut Pattern for Walls in Plan vs Section

We want to show our walls with a solid grey hatch in plan views, but in sections we want to show a diagonal line hatch. I haven't found a great way to do this yet. I set up my "Metal Stud Layer" material to have a solid grey hatch, and made a filter in my sections to show any walls with the "Metal Stud Layer" structural material as a diagonal hatch, but the problem with this is that it overrides all of the layers in the wall, not just the stud layer.

Any ideas out there on a good way to set this up?

I would use the course and medium/fine setting. Course only shows you the solid fill and medium/fine setting shows the cut hatch. For plan you can set to course detail and section will show medium/fine detail.

I looked at this but one problem with it is we dimension to face of stud, and coarse hides the stud wall layer when we have GWB or any other finish in the wall assembly.

@jmartucci2  Which Version of Revit are you using? Revit 2022 now supports hiding Non Core wall Layers.  this would work with the Coarse Scale Fill pattern.

Alternatively, you could just use the Visibility Graphics Override, to change the Cut Pattern in the Plan or Section, to the desired pattern.

If you don't want the override to affect all walls, then you can create a Filter to select the walls you want to override.

We're just going to show the walls solid grey in section views.

You could get there with Parts and Rule-Based Filters.
