Hello,
In our office for mostly single family residential we show demolition in the existing phase, which I can do by setting the phase to Proposed and phase filter to Show Previous + Demo. I am having difficulty in setting up a template that has both views that are organized by phase, and existing plans that show the demolition work. Can anyone offer advice on how to accomplish this? Thank you for your input.

I briefly explored option 1, but am not sure exactly how to go about this route.
I went for option 2, created a text parameter for views, manually entered the phases, and then organized the browser based on this parameter. Thanks so much!

Instead of creating a text parameter to be "Phase", why don't you use the true Phase parameter?. It is available for the organization of the project browser. This true phase property has an effect on schedules and graphics as well.
Seems that everything described can be accomplished seamlessly right out of the box -- without needing additional parameters. It sound like all you need is a Phase in-between Existing (which shows the as-built) and Proposed (showing new and existing construction together). That in-between phase would essentially be your Demolition Phase, since you want to sort in the Project Browser by Phases and not by Views. The Demolition Phase is the one set to Show Previous + Demo. No Text Parameter is going to prevent someone from switching the Phase Filter, so why not just give the views distinctive names instead, such as “Existing-Level 1”, “Demo – Level 1”, etc.?
