Show & Print View Cube on views attached to sheets

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible show and print the View cube in Revit.

I produce vast numbers of fabrication drawings from external cladding & facades, these need to be viewed and annotated in a variety of elevations.

Even though the title blocks do state which elevation, my clients keep asking for a simple view direction. I have AutoCAD blocks that would solve the problem, but this would mean inserting detail components to each view on each sheet. I am hoping to avoid this as it takes time when you have 200+ sheets with 4 or 5 views on each.

Thanks

Not that I've ever heard of.

I'm confused as to why the view title text such as SOUTH ELEVATION or whatever isn't considered a "simple view direction" by your client.

Hi chrisplyler,

It is more a language problem, the projects I typically work on are in London and you can have 10 – 20 different nationalities, the work force varies from basic labours to project engineers, all need to be able to understand drawings in some form.

Obviously engineers and architects are trained and competent to understand drawings but the labourers and logistic teams who move the material to required locations generally have little understanding of construction technology.

Due to size and weight of some of the material the parts need to be laid out in order or stacked in order to reduce double handling.

Also our metal fabricators like to see view identification, as in 3rd angle and 1st angle projection. Generally most situations and detail are strait forward as they are rectangle in shape but I have a few curved facades, and raking canopies.

Ultimately my client does not want any arguments or excuses from there sub-contractor who install the cladding, of the fabricators who make.

If there is a simple solution out there and it is a simple tick box like some things in Revit that would be great.

Although if there is no option available I might go down the route of creating a family of view titles which include a small diagram indicating view. Then try and formatting Revit to prescribe the correct diagram to each view front back left right 3D.

Good luck. Please do reply again to describe your final solution. I'm very interested to know what it will be.

You could create screen shots as image files and send them as a work around.
