Shared parameters - adding own comments

Hi!

Is there any option to add your own comments to .txt files with shared parameters?
I was trying to add them under chosen parameter using #.

The file is working but after adding a new comment the comment disappears.

No you cannot. Once you add a new parameter, the format will reset and delete your comments which are interrupting the file

BTW, if you are experimenting, which you seem to be doing, do consider reading the 2nd OOTB comment from the top

Why and what for do you need those comments!! This is neither C nor P coding so basically do not need to add comments. If it is for sorting purposes, when you are using the right editing software you can sort txt files using filters...This is supposed to be a simple tab delimited file and you should not edit it manually

Regarding to your comment,
I consider why these comment doesn't disappear and the rest (added manually) are.

I need to add some comments for people managing shared parameters - the tooltip could contain only 250 characters - to keep all info in one place - .txt file - instead of another repository for full description.

Ok simple answer NO you cannot add such comment. Whenever you add new parameters from revit, those comments will be deleted automatically. The popup tool tip comment 250 characters are meant to give hints and not a full literature of the Shared Parameter Protocols.

There are other apps or plugin which are designed EITHER to manage OR edit the Sharedparameter.txt file and provide you with a comment section for you to type anything you want and as long as you want...BUT it just wont be in the SharedParameter.txt file if you know what I mean.

THe .txt itself

  1. one should NOT be editing it manually even if one is a Revit GURU
  2. one should NOT alter/disturb its format
  3. to respect the file format, any comments you want to add MUST be at the beginning of the file

Comments?  Where would they show?  Or do you mean Tooltip Description?
