Hello,

I have two models, one architect model and one landscape. The two models are setup excactly the same. When I link the landscape model into the architect model the shadows are differerent, despite I have the same settings. What am I missing here?

Have you published the Coordinates from your file to the Linked File, or Acquire Coordinates from the Linked File to your file, so to fit the Project Location ?

Hello

Both project are using the same dwg as underlay, so the are at the same place from basepoint. But since I link in the file with internal origin to internal origin it should work. I haven't used shared coordinate system on any of the files.

  • setting for Site (Location Weathear and Site)
    •  you have used the same CAD file for background but when you've inserted them , probably used Center to Center option , so the CAD was placed arbitrary in your drawing.
    • I suppose the CAD file is a Surveyor file , so you have in your Revit file to acquire the Coordinates from the CAD file and Publish these Coordinates to the Linked File too. These in order to work in the same Coordinate System
  • as for Location (Location Weathear and Site) - these settings have connection with  Shadows
    • choose the correct Location (Location Weathear and Site) for the host file
    • the linked file will inherit the location of the host file
    • if you want both files , when opening each one separately to have the same shadow appearance  then , take care to have the same Location (Location Weathear and Site) and the same orientation in True North  (in Site Plan View)

I'd like to see screenshots showing the Sun Path.

I,ve been getting back to this problem back and fourth and finally found the issue. In one of the files "Use sunlight saving time" was turned on. That set the shadow about 1 hour wrong.

Thank you for your time!
