Hi
I have noticed an is with shadows in a view.
The shadows properties are assigned to the view and are transparent,
but when the view is dropped onto a sheet the shadows are opaque.
How is this?

Hi @Kev_D
I would suggest checking the Desktop App to see if there are any Revit updates available. For information on using the Desktop App see the following article: About the Autodesk Desktop App
What are your view range settings? Can you share a file with us to test further?
Thanks,

Hi @Kev_D
It's been a while and I'm checking back to see if you've made progress on this issue.
I will be glad to take a look if you can share a file with us to test further.
You can control the visibility of shadows on a view-by-view basis. See this article for more information.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Apologies about the delay, I totally forgot about it. I wouldn't be in a position to share the model.
I am aware of controlling properties on a view-by-view basis, but this is the same view. The problem arises when the view is dropped onto the sheet... the shadow turns opaque.
Hi @Kev_D
Thanks for getting back to us.
No worries, if you are unable to share the model. Would you able to do a screencast.
I can reproduce the issue and see if there is a workaround.
Thanks,

Hi @Kev_D
By default, the shadows appear even if placed on sheets.
I'm wondering if this a graphics glitch. Is this specific to a particular model/ user profile?
Can you check your graphics card compatibility for your Revit version?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks again for your time on this.
Just so we are on the same page, I will outline the issue again. If you look closely at the two images in the OP, just above the number 28 at the bottom of the picture, you will see the difference in the shadows. In the actual view you can see the outline of the grass area, but when this same view is dropped onto the sheet, this shadow becomes opaque and you can not see the outline of the grass. The same view properties are assigned to both as it is the exact same view. Nothing should change.
I am thinking it may be a bug. I have yet to notice it on other projects, but I do not focus my attention on shadows myself. It was brought to my attention by a colleague for this particular model.
Do a quick test: ( 5 minutes or less.)
Create a new Project. Draw 2 walls, turn on shadows.
Create a Sheet. Drop the view on the sheet. How do shadows look? If they look correct, (transparent)
then that means something might be wrong in your posted project.
Hi @Kev_D
This definitely is a project specific issue.
What are your view range settings? Do you get the same result when you do a PDF print?
Also, do you have a multiple monitor setup?

Hi @Kev_D
Since you are unable to share the model to investigate further, I'm marking your post as the solution.
If you have additional questions or if you want to continue the conversation, you may unmark the solution and post in this thread.
Meanwhile, I'll watch out if I see something similar in other cases I'm working on. I'll also keep an eye on this issue and update if the rendering team has further feedback.

Good one @ToanDN
I was looking up similar rendering cases, so looks like this may be the cause the OP is experiencing!
See article: Revit - shadows in cropped floor plans and 3D views
@Kev_D lets us know if removing the crop region has any effect on the shadows' display!
@ToanDNLet's see if the OP gets back on this one!

Thanks to both of you for your help.
I reopened the project that I had the issue with and checked to see could your workaround fix it, but it seems that the issue does not exist anymore. The only thing I can think of is that recently, I upgraded the version of Revit I am using, so that may have fixed the bug.
Hi @Kev_D
Thanks for getting back to us!
Installing the updates was one of the first recommendations suggested. I've marked that as a solution for now - if anything changes please let me know.
