Setting vertical reference plane help

Hello,

I am building a curtain panel and I am having some trouble following a tutorial I found on Youtube. It is in Arabic and he did a step I did not understand. He uses the Set tool and flips it up onto a verticle plane. It seems like he uses a key combination to flip it up, but I can't find anywhere how to do it.

He clicks the Set plane tool...

...he hovers his mouse over the reference line...

...he uses the Tab key on his keyboard to alternate between the available planes of that reference line...

...he mouse clicks on the right one when it is highlighted.
