Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone could help me out with the below;
Question 1 - I need to know how to import the Cad file into revit and set up the site survey to ensure when I rotate to true north and the survey is correct orientated/ stays in position . (Step by step process would be perfect) thanks in advance!
Question 2 - I also find in the past when I have been able to complete this my elevations also orientate which isn’t ideal when detailing elevations. I would rather add the north arrow to the page and orientate to view. How do I fix this?
Question 3 - if the site survey does not have a north arrow located on the plan, when opening the file in CAD, is it correct to assume North is facing upwards?
This is the one thing that completely confuses me. Hopefully someone is able to simplify the survey system in revit.
Thanks in advance ![]()
Hi,
this may look overwhelming at first, but if you understand the logic behind it.. its quiet simple.

I still need to re-read sometimes to be sure.
Hope that helps.

I would not assume that a CAD file from a surveyor is correctly oriented much less with correct units or geolocated.
That said, you can get an approximate idea of the north with a 2D google maps view of the address for your project when the red part is pointing to the top of your screen.
