Every time that I save a new project, it has as a default in the "Options" of the "File Save Options Dialog" to have 3 backups. I think that this might be too much, and I have to open the "File Save Options Dialog" each time to set it to 2 backups.
Let me ask: Is there another place in Revit where I can set this default backup save to always save only 2 times as a default so I would not have to open the "File Save Options Dialog" each time?
Thanks in advance.
I can only suggest in the Revit.ini file which determines Revit Startup option but cannot find anything of reference unfortunately.

How do you start a new project?
If you use a template file (RTE), then edit your template file, SAVE AS, select the Options button, and set the desired number of backups.
If you have a workshared starter project file that you open detached to create a new project file, then edit that file, SAVE AS, Options, and set the desired number of backups.
I'd be careful with that. I had the case (schema error) where I had to go back about 5 versions to find one I still could open. I set it to 20. Only downside is storage (shouldn't be an issue in 2023) and the explorer looks a bit more cluttered.
