Selection box - Create a temporary 3d view

I'd like the Selection box command to create a temporary 3d view instead of opening the default 3d view of changing the current 3d view settings. How can I achieve this?

How about setting the default 3D view to the way you would like your selection box view to look?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

What do you mean by "temporary" view?

I use selection box to edit the parameters of the selected objects. So while editing those parameters I'd like to see all the elements that are in the model irrespective of the native view's visibility graphics settings.

So if I select an element in a plan view and click selection box, it'll take me to the default 3d view with its existing visibility settings. Or if I select an element in a 3d view and click selection box, it'll change that 3d view section box.

But both these options use the visibility settings of the default 3d view. But i want a new view with everything on, and preferably which will automatically delete after I make my changes - hence temporary.

Delete the {3D} view before you make the selection and Revit will create a brand new {3D} view when you use Selection Box tool.

I like using the Coins Auto Section Box add-in.  It's the most useful navigation tool for Revit in my opinion.  Just select the items you wish to view and click the button to set the section box around the selected items. You can also specify an offset for the Section Box (from the selected objects).

It's available through the Autodesk App store:

This is extremely late, but may help someone who comes along.
