Revit shuts down when I select the wall option, any wall option, this only occurs with walls in new drawing or existing plans. The error code is attached below:
This recently started happening on existing or new drawings, when I select the wall option it shuts revit down. Any suggestions reload software?
Have you tried reinstalling Revit? It is not an everyday error. I suppose installation can be corrupted.
How many miles does the odometer show?
Could be that it's "expired". I've had perfectly good (but old) software done in by time. Window's is always applying new updates. Eventually, something's got to give. When it does, we hope our software is still supported.
It's been a long time since I worked with Revit 2011. But I can still easily remember that I had such a problem too. At the time it has something with our Revit.ini file. to do. We then replaced them. We had tried a lot to get to the solution. I hope your problem lies in the ini file. Otherwise, I wish you much luck in solving the Problem.

Hi @Anonymous,
I understand your Revit 2011 product crashes when trying to select walls in a project file.
I took a look at the CER report, you´ve sent in, but it doesn´t have enough information to identify what is causing this issue.
If this behavior is specific for a certain project file or a certain wall even, than, please, send me the project file and let me know, how I can find the walls to reproduce the issue.
If this is not specific to a certain model, but reproducible with multiple files on your machine, try the following:
Retest the behavior - if it didn´t help, go to the next step
Run a Program Reinstall: Windows Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program > “Uninstall/Change" > “Repair or Reinstall” > Reinstall
Test the behavior in a brand new Windows User Account with Administrator rights
You may also consider upgrading your Revit product to a later release - The latest available build is Revit 2018.2.
Please, mark this post as an accepted solution if it helps, or let me know, if you need further help - I´d be happy to continue assisting you.
Best regards,
Hi @Anonymous
It's been a while, and I wanted to check back on this issue.
If you still are facing issues, please try the following for me and let me know if it helps.
Swap out the wall by the following method:
1. Save off a copy of the production model first.
2. Highlight one wall > right click > Select all instances in entire model.
3. CTRL C.
4. Hit Delete and remove all walls.
5. Ignore all Warnings.
6. Modify > Paste > Align to same place.
7. Change wall Type when all walls are still highlighted.
Test file to verify that all works.
Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Kudos welcome!

Hi @Zsolt.Varga
I've merged the threads: Select walls error CER_161700443 and Selecting wall option crashes Revit Architecture 2011 into the same thread, since they are the same issue by the OP.
Hi @Anonymous
Let us know if there is any progress on this issue.
