I have noticed that selecting (clicking on) large Groups with "Controls" Activated takes a long time (can be several minutes with some groups) - I have noticed this both with model groups and detail groups and I usually try to remember to turn of "Controls and Dimension" Activation before I interact with these groups, but occasionally (more often then I would like) I forget. Selecting these groups can be slow even with "Controls" turned off, but the difference can be from a few seconds with controls off to a few/several minutes with "Controls" activated.
I don't really have a questions, but I guess my suggestion would be to have an interrupt option to force Revit to abandon the selection or to automatically turn off activated controls if the selection doesn't complete within a preset amount of time.
I first noticed this issue with Revit 2023 - I am using Revit 2024 now and the problem still persists.
