Auto numbering is great, but we need a feature to be able to either "split" the text box into another column (similar to schedules), or allow us to select a starting number if it is a continuation of a previous list.
Select Starting number in text
When you have a body of text selected you should see an option to increase or decrease the beginning number if numbering is being used. Place your cursor at the first line of number to alter and the buttons should appear.

The image is from Revit 2024 but it's been around as long as the newer text features...maybe 2017?
