select door and window Families not loading

so, I go to the doors tool, then load family and then try to load in a door family, and I get a cannot load family error.

The Error says:

"Some or all of the family files you selected cannot be loaded. You must choose family files of the category Doors. Do you want to retry loading a new set of files?

Revit cannot load the following files:

Door-Curtain-wall-double-storefront.rfa"

If I find the file in an explorer window, double click to open and then "load into project," it says it works, but I still cannot see this type of door in Revit.

This has been happening with doors, windows, columns, and I sure others.

Load them from the insert menu rather - 'Load family' and navigate to the family.

Door-Curtain-wall-double-storefront.rfa is a curtain panel family not a Door family that is why you cannot load it using the door tool load family. Like Tim says above use the load family button from the Insert Tab. Curtain Panel families can only be placed in Curtain Walls not standard walls.

What do you mean it's not working. They explained why that process doesn't work, and its not because its a bug. Curtain wall doors are a curtain wall panel family. Follow the steps they gave and you'll be fine.

If the family has been loaded in, the problem may be that you don't know how to add a curtain wall door to a curtain wall. You don't use the door tool.  Here is an Autodesk video that shows what to do.
