Seeking Advice on Implementing Mean Grade Elevation Calculation in Construction Projects

Hello fellow,

I'm currently working on a construction project and need to accurately calculate the mean grade elevation for site planning and compliance with building regulations using a quick grade calculator. Does anyone have experience with setting up a calculation schedule or method for this purpose in their construction projects? Tips on tools, software, or manual methods that have worked well would be highly valuable. Any shared experiences or insights would greatly help me streamline this part of the project using the quick grade calculator.

Thanks in advance!

This was posted in April with no replies, I assume partly because the link to the calculator is for grading test scores, not elevation/site grade elevations.

Depending on the complexity of the site I'd probably start with a section through the site, or several sections, to determine the overall rise run in each location and evaluate that against what the intended use of that portion of the site happens to be. It will be simpler or more difficult according to the scope of the project...as single family home will naturally be easier than a new 2,000 home development project. Regardless it would all need to start with a civil survey that provides 3D elevation data that Revit can import to generate its own toposolid(s), or a 3D topography that Revit can import and see. For that matter you might wonder why the civil engineer isn't answering this question within their own scope of work, if you aren't them.
