Sections - Numbering

Hello everybody,

we are having issues with the automatic numbering for sections, it started about a month ago, the file is about 3 years old.

the numbering process is not recognizing the "gaps" anymore. It used to, back in the days. Lets say I have 3 sections - 01, 02, 03 - and delete Section 02. The next one will still be Section 04, the gaps dont get filled and we are at Section 1015 now because of it... Does someone know why this is happening and how to change it?

Thanks!!

It always behaves that way, at least for me.

You mean the view name or the ACTUAL detail number assigned once placed on a sheet?

I have never known the view name to fill in the gaps.

What DOES fill in the gaps though is the detail number IF all the sections are on the same sheet.

for example:  I create sections 01, 02 & 03 and they are placed on a sheet in order, they get detail number 01, 02 & 03.

If I delete section 02, and i create a new section, that new sections view name is section 04, however if placed on the same sheet as the others, will get detail number 02. (if it is placed on a new sheet, it gets detail number 01)

thank you, i just found the answer to the question myself.

when you create the sections 01, 02, 03 and delete section 02, the next one will still be section 04. BUT: if you delete Section 03, the next one will be section 03 again. Revit will always take the last section number and go forth. The problem here was that someone kept a section 1014 somewhere. After i found and deleted it, the next section was Section 01.
