Scheduled system restarts with open models

Hello,

At my employer we're preparing to start having scheduled restarts after system patching.  A concern that some of our designers have expressed is a fear that if someone hasn't closed their model when Windows restarts, that the model will become corrupt, causing problems for everyone working in it.  Is this a legitimate fear, and if so, how do you handle patching and restarts in your environment?  Thanks!

Hello @Anonymous  -

The issues I see with that is that local user model will be closed without saving. They will retain ownership of elements in the model that no one else could use until he re-opens and sync'd. It should not corrupt the central model.

I would strongly suggest that before people leave for the day that they restart their own computers. This way you know everyone is out of Revit and all programs and any system wide IT issues can be completed. This should be a SOP (standard operating procedure) in every company.

You can't think AutoCAD and run Revit.

OK, so not really any serious problems; the user just needs to open the model and get back to business.  Is Revit not smart enough to automatically save when the OS is calling for it to shut down?

Hi @Anonymous  -

I will give AutoCAD some praise for the auto save function. (don't tell anyone I said that... LOL)

Unfortunately Revit will not auto save. It would be a great function to have, but do not see it coming any time soon.
