I wanted to know if it is possible or if there is a workaround for this:
I have room names (Architectural) and space names (Mechanical) in a schedule that I want to compare.
I have tinkered with the formula a bit but not sure I am getting it right or if it's not possible at all because it is trying to actually calculate numerical values.
Does anyone know if there is a certain syntax that needs to be used or some tips/tricks, workarounds, different methods I could use?
As far as I'm aware you can't really use any text in calculated values?
I would use Dynamo to compare the two.
What exactly are you comparing between the two? And what are you doing with that "comparison"?
FWIW: Revit has a nifty-neat Space Naming Tool that might be of interest to you.

FWIW, you can evaluate a Yes/No Condition or Numeric Value to return a Text Value like this:
So I am aware of the Space Naming Tool that Revit has and I use it often. This is more for like QA/QC purposes. So the idea was if the architects update a room name (because the functionality of the space has changed or whatever other reason), I could set the formula to true or false. This would then let me know "hey, something has changed here".
I used this a lot with airflows but those are numerical values.

Sounds like a perfect job for Coordination Review. That is, Linking Architectural into your Project and Copy/Monitoring the Room-Bounding Elements (i.e. Walls, Roofs, etc.). I mean, I assuming the Room-Bounding Elements and Spacing-Bounding Elements are one and the same.

Interesting. I did not know you could copy monitor other things besides levels and grids. Thanks for sharing.
