Schedule Key Door Tagging

Anonymous

Hey All,

I'm trying to find a way to allow for a Door Tag to have an assigned schedule key number referenced. I'm using a schedule key as my hardware schedule which is working great however I would like to a Tag on my floor plans showing what hardware group it is in. So far the only way I have been able to get any information from the schedule key onto a tag is though the Comment parameter.

Is there another way to do this that I'm missing?

I do not believe this is possible the way you want.  The Parameters listed in the Edit Label for the tag you are creating for doors list built-in/pre-programmed parameters that look at the door.  You cannot use a shared parameter in this situation because the shared parameter doesn't drill down into the key schedule and key name.

The only way that I can think of doing so is through Shared Parameters, which don't work with key schedules. Feel free to vote up the idea here -

However, they do work with regular schedules, if that option could work for you.

Add one of the unused built-in parameters to the Key Schedule and use it to tag.

can you clarify the solution?...isn't the Comment considered one of the built-in parameters he is already using?...I though he wanted to pull the Key Name directly out?

I do wish to just pull straight from the Key name. but if there is no way to do that then linking it to the comment is the best work around

that's what I initially thought.  I will put in a tech support case to autodesk for this one...

PM your Revit serial number so I can put it in the case as well as your name, company name, phone and email address to they can copy you on all the emails.

Yes.  Comments is one of the built-in parameters that can be used.  I use Finish parameter to present Hardware Group Number because I don't need it for any other purposes.  Even if I do, I can create another parameter for Finish because it doesn't required to be in a tag.  It's about priority.
