Schedule - Duplicate Comment Column

Hello. I am creating a door shedule and I have added a comment column so I can freely add text and comments there.

I would like to have a second column where I can write text too, separate one. Help appreciated.

Does the data in the new column need to be unique for each Door instance, or should it be the same for all instances of the same Door Type?

If it is type-based, would you want to add the data in the Door Families, so that it is already there when loaded into a project?

For type-based data that should be entered in the families, create a new shared parameter, and add it to your Door Families and to your project.  Then it will be available to be added as a column in your Schedule.

If all of the data entry will be in the project file (because it will vary from project to project, so there is no need to have it in the family) and you do not need to show this data in a Tag, you can just add a project parameter to your project that applies to Doors.  (That could be a shared parameter as well, but would not need to be if you will not need to show it in a Tag.)

@David_W_Koch

David, thanks for you reply.

1. Data unique for each door instance

2. No type base, just a comment.

3. Adding a parameter could be an option if there is not an easier one which can be dealt in the schedule table without going into the door families, I have different type of doors..

Thanks

Unless you can find another text-based instance parameter for Doors in the ones that are built into Revit (and which you are not using for its intended purpose), adding an instance-based project parameter that applies to Doors will allow you to add that parameter to your Schedule and enter the data there.  (It will also show up in each Door's properties, so you could edit the value on the Properties palette when selecting one or more Doors, also.)  No need to edit the Door families.
