I have a large model (1.2Gb), lots of steelwork, brackets and bolts etc. I'm trying to extract certain members/connections to develop in Autocad. First step is to save the items to a new Revit file. However, I have some problems. I can create a group with just one steel post, and then link that to a new file. Same if I make a group with two end to end posts. But if I make a group of more items, or a bracket for example, the creation of the new file doesn't happen. I don't get any errors, the file just doesn't get created.
I've tried it with some items in the architectural sample, and its ok with just a few objects, but when I try it with a group of several items, Revit crashed.
Is there a better way to do this, or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.

- Create Assembly from a selection of elements
- Create 3D view for the Assembly, open it
- Export to CAD and choose Current View only.
