SAT file not importing

Good Afternoon!

I'm having issues trying to import a SAT file from Rhino in to a Revit Family. I've tried the using a conceptual mass, generic model, and a mass inside a project but no avail! also tried importing in to Autocad, with no issues then importing the DWG in to revit. Still nothing.

Would really appreciate any advice as this has got me seriously stumped.

SAT attached.

Cheers guys!

The SAT file is 20 MB and it is for a single panel?  How many panels are you going to have?  Even if you CAN import it in, it will eat your workstation resource for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and supper.

I open it in AutoCAD and it is simple enough to build in Revit.  Don't create the tiny little 3D pattern, though.  Use a material with Cutout for the holes.  It should work fine for a sunscreen.

Hey Toan,

Process that went through my mind, except my mentor is telling me to use grasshopper to make the shade. Never thought to check the file size, that's obviously why. I'll speak to my mentor tomorrow. I assume by a material with 'cutout' you mean to render it with a displacement/cutout map?

Thanks

I've had the same problem and arrived at this conclusion:

When exporting the polysurface from Rhino, I had to check .sat-format, and under "options" I checked "AutoCAD DWG".

To use the .sat in revit to create walls etc. from mass you need to create an in-place mass, then "import CAD" under the "Insert tab". Only then can you select faces of the mass to create floors etc.

I still can't edit anything having to do with the .sat itself, but it now functions as an object to place elements onto.
