Hi, first time poster here.
I am creating a deployment for AutoDesk and it places the Revit folder RVT 2017 in C:\Program Data\Autodesk. The students do not and will not have access to the C: drive on the local machines and therefor cannot access any templates. Where can I change this folder placement location while creating my deployment to something they can access on our network?
Hi there:
Suggest for you to read the Network Deployment Chapter of the Install read-me file (or click here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/network-license-administration/network-deployment )
Once you have a deployment file ready, go ahead and install on the Server of computer that provides the library folder shared locations for all users. If you do not wish to run the deployment, then just copy and paste all of the Revit Data folders from the local drive you just ran the deployment to the Shared location of your choice.
Then modify the deployment and configure the installation to look for the folders on the shared locations (previous step installation).
Hope this helps.
I think your concern here is related to your students being able to use revit properly. What's important are 3 files:
1- Templates
2- Family Templates
3- Libraries.
What you would need to do is setup a folder on your server and place these in it and make sure you go to the options dialog, folder location, and have all the revit software use these. I believe there is a way to set a deployment automatically so you don't have to do it on every single computer.
Best of luck.
