Rotating detail components in groups

I know groups are a complicated, error-ridden thing, but here's my issue. When I create a group of detail components (lets say a standard eave detail), sometimes the components in the groups (mainly the stud) randomly rotate in some groups, but not others, even though it is the same group. If you go into the group to fix it, some are still rotated while others look correct.

It seems to be happening in the components that can be rotated with the spacebar, and I can't figure out how to get rid of this option.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Align and lock not working for you?

Add ref planes in group to constrain them.

I've managed to recreate this problem within an attached detail group. Re-placing the detail group repeatedly produces an upside down family. I am using Revit 2020.2. I found to have this problem I have locked the detail item to a model component which puts it in the right spot but not the right orientation.

Correct orientation

Wrong orientation

While writing this post I decided to delete the detail group, rotate both the view and the model family 90 degrees, and then rotate it back 90 degrees and that fixed it. Very annoying.

Is anyone still experiencing this issue in a newer version of Revit?

make your details item in center of family like :

or this one :

Re-centering my family will cause all the existing details in the project to shift. The family is currently modelled such that the center of the family is the center reference plances, and then I checked the origin box for the corner reference planes as that's where it originally was, this way the family won't shift in the project.

I also doubt this is the cause of the issue as currently the family rotates around the origin, and using a constraint will put it in the right place, just flipped over. So, your solution would only rotate the family 180 degrees around the center, which doesn't solve the issue.

yes, this is true. this solution mirrored the family so for myself i use the two group normal one and mirrored one,if the model mirrored so i use the mirrored.

Unfortunately that's also not an ideal outcome because now there are two or more groups to maintain which then risks inconsistencies and dropping off critical information that gets missed during checking. Just wondering, are you also using Revit 2020?
