I've been doing the research on this topic but couldn't find a good solution that works.
This is what I'm dealing with.
I was given a Revit file that has 2 different grid lines orientation. See attached image.
The one on the left is for the A2 series (overall floor plan) "portrait orientation" and the one on the right is for the A6 series (overall RCP) "landscape orientation"
You can tell by the 0,0 insertion point
I don't understand why it's setup this way because normally these 2 series have the same exact set of grid lines and orientation.
Anyway, I assume the A6 series views got rotated because when I click on the default 3d view button at the top, it matches the grid lines orientation on the LEFT.
My question is:
How can I make the default 3d view of the 3d model to match the grid lines orientation on the RIGHT (BLUE COLOR)?
I want to export the revit model as DWG file so that the orientation matches the one on the right.

The image on the right is likely rotated on the sheet using the property shown below. The proper orientation of the grids for the model is the Red view on the left.
If you rotate the 3D view to have West as the south, this should match the Blue image on the right.

I've got a question for you: Why? You have me scratching my head here.
Because all of the RCPs are based on the orientation on the right. Just want to make sure when I export the entire 3d model to DWG file (some of our subs don't have revit), it's going to match the orientation on the RIGHT per the attached PDF file because all of my subs drawing are set to match the orientation on the RIGHT. They don't want to change the orientation on their ends.
Right now, when I click on the default 3d view button, the entire model matches the orientation on the LEFT. I'm just curious if there's an easy method to ensure when I export the entire model out, it's going to match the orientation on the RIGHT, not LEFT anymore.

Rotation of the View or Sheet has nothing to do with the coordinates. Set the Angle to True North in the Project and export it.
...set Coordinate Base to Shared Coordinates under Export Setup.
Still not clear what the Viewing Angle has to do with orientation of the Model to True North or Project North. If you want to Export the Model to CAD using say a 90-degree rotation, then enter 90 for the Angle to True North and change the Coordinate Base under Export Setup to Shared Coordinates.

Seriously, maybe I'm reading you all wrong, so let's back up. This is all about exporting the Revit Model (from 3D View) to DWG and how to get that exported DWG to be rotated - relative to 12 o'clock high - upon opening it in AutoCAD.

I usually just click on the default 3d view button, and choose FILE > EXPORT.
I know for sure it's not about rotating the viewport because that only applies to view but NOT the entire 3d model.
Ideally, when I click on the default 3d view button, it will instantly look like the orientation on the RIGHT.
having a second project location/shared coordinates with the 90 adjustment for just for exporting purposes might be the solution.

I answered this question above. What more can I say?
There are no different grid line orientations. They are the same set of grid lines in views with their crop regions rotated differently (floor plan view = no rotation, RCP view rotated 90 degree CW).
OK, this is what I just did.
In the default 3d view, I clicked on the project base point and changed the angle to true north to -90 degree
Then File > Export > DWG files (and choose share coordinate for the export setting)
Then this is what I got. See attached.
The rotation is correct but the entire building doesn't align with the grid lines in the A6 series. Why?
So, those grids in the DWG?
You can't move the inserted Revit Model inside the DWG?
Well then, Link the DWG into Revit and move it to align properly with the Revit grids and then Acquire Coordinates of the Linked CAD.
...then Export to DWG again.
No, the grid lines are from the sheet files extracted from this Revit model.
This is what's happening:
Originally, when I click on the default 3d view, and export the model as it's. The orientation looks like the one on the LEFT.
When I export any of the A2 series sheet file, it matches with the orientation on the LEFT.
Because my subs want it to look like the one on the RIGHT, so I followed your advice by changing the project base point, and with the shared coordinate export setting, the rotation is correct and this orientation is what the subs want.
BUT, when I extract the A6 series sheet files, the RCP and grid lines do NOT match this new orientation on the RIGHT. My snapshot I attached earlier clearly shows that.
The question is why they didn't match in this relationship? But the other orientation matches automatically without any tweaking.
Do I just need to manually align the model to match the grid lines after I export the model? I don't mind to do that, but if there's a way I can eliminate this step, that would be great. Thanks.
This is very hard to follow. Do you have your grids directly on the sheet? Why?
This is the Revit file I received from an architect. I didn't create this file.
Anyway, let me phrase one more time.
The Revit file I receive from the architect usually has all of the sheet files set up (A2, A3 series and so on) in the project browser.
Usually, I will just do a batch export to DWG files from these sheet files to distribute to the design team (for those who don't have Revit)
After this, I will just click the default 3d view button at the top, then file > export to the DWG file (for the entire model)
Then in AutoCAD or NavisWorks, I will just double check to make sure this exported 3d model is matching with the grid lines by XREF both 3d model and one of these A2 series sheet files I just exported, and they both align perfectly every time before I distribute this exported 3d model to the entire design team (for those who don't have Revit)
However, for this particular Revit file, there are 2 different grid line orientation (as you can see in my snapshot I posted earlier) The reason is this is a huge project (2 L shape buildings): the left orientation is to see both building at the same time; the right orientation is to see one L shape building only.
My design team wants to stick with the right orientation for every drawing.
So I do the same protocol, when I first click on the default 3d view button, file > export DWG file (the entire model), it matches with the left orientation (A2 series)

BUT the entire model does NOT match with any of the A6 series grid lines now. My earlier snapshot shows this discrepancy.
My question is: what more do I need to do so that after the model gets rotated, it will match with the A6 series grid lines.
I don't mind to manually align the 3d model with the A6 series grid lines after it gets rotated. I'm just curious if there's a way to eliminate this step, that's all. If not, I can live with this. Thanks in advance.
