The family you are using was originally a Wall based Generic Model which was converted to a Specialty Equipment.

What you need to do is

  1. Edit the Family
  2. From the Create Tab add a double Vertical Flip Control
  3. (Optional) add Double Horizontal Flip Control
  4. Keep it Always vertical
  5. Reload to the model and overwrite existing

And also how to change the dimension into my desired length I tried under Edit Type and put the new dimension but nothing is changed.

It is a Wall based originally so

  1. it can only move along the wall.
  2. Move the wall it is hosted in and it will move with it
  3. Otherwise, remodel it as non-hosted family

How would I turn into a non-hosted family so I can move where ever I want and also change the dimensions.

- Edit the elevator family and change to Mechanical category

- Load it back in and close the family w/o saving

- Create a new project, link your project in

- Copy monitor the elevator in

- Edit the family (it is now a face based family), select solid host and change extrusion thickness to 0 and accept deletion

- Change the family back to Specialty Equipment category, save as to a new name and load it in your project

With that said, I have seen a lot of wall based elevator families and for a good reason.  That is so the location of the elevator car and elevator door is constrained properly to the front wall of the elevator shaft per manufacturer's spec..

Unless it is a freestanding panoramic elevator, you should not need to change it to non-hosted...Nonetheless, if you insist, watch the video in the following link on Autodesk Knowledge network

For the record, I did not watch the video and I personally think a 10 minute video is way too much to cover this task.

So I save as my project and called it reference then I created another project then click insert and then link revit but why are my floor levels missing and when I try to select something it selects everything. Can you please demonstrate I tried but I can't. When I click level 1 it doesn't even show my walls.
