Room Tag Insertion Point

Been scouring google trying to track down an answer for this.  Either my question is too vague or I just don't know the right question to ask.  Anyway, here it goes.

We have a small closet space where moving the room tag into the space ends up moving the room tag insertion point out of space.  I have been into the family to edit the reference plane (type 'vg', annotation categories, etc, etc.).  However, where I position the reference plane and where the insertion point appears to be on the plan (after I load the new family) are different.  In short, nothing I do in editing the family seems to have an effect on the room tag insertion point in the plan.  What am I missing?  Thank you for your help and I apologize if this issue was picked up in another thread.

The base point of the room tag will always be the intersection of the X & Y reference planes. You can confirm this by making a multiple line room names, the room name tag will not move, it will just add the extra line of text. I believe you are talking about the leader line moving out of place if you move the room name. The control point of the leader will dictate on where the leader line will be. See attach picture.

If you want the leader to be at a define contant position. Modify the family and put 2 lines above and below the room name and put them on the invisible line category. Even if the 2 lines are invisible, revit will create a bounding box for your upper and lower extents, making the leader always at constant position.
