So i have been scratching my head over this for a while. I have a building containing X number of flats. Each of the flats is loaded in as a link and then positioned into place.
Within the link all the rooms have floor areas with standard length and width dimensions with parameters linked to the room area.
When loaded into the main model i create a room schedule, link it to the revit link and am able to show each flats rooms on the schedule with a L x W dimension (in mm) and an area shown in m2 and ft2. The dimensions are added to the schedule using the combine parameter option.
The problem is the client now wants an additional column showing the L x W column in feet for marketing reasons.
Is there a quick option that converts the dimensions from mm to feet without having to create additional parameters etc?
Thanks for the help in advance.

I cannot think of any way to accomplish this if you need to keep the original mm combined parameter column that does not involve new parameters. Would a duplicate "marketing" schedule that shows that column in ft and not mm suffice?
Hi Jason
Thanks for your comment, unfortunately they want it all combined, unless you mean create a new column in a separate schedule and then just align them in the sheets view?
Can i change the units in a separate schedule even if i am using the dimensions from the linked revit file?
Thanks
Aligning the schedules on the sheet is obviously not ideal but it would get the job done. In "Schedule 2" you should be able to add the "Room Length" and "Room Width" parameters and then change their units on the Formatting tab under Field Formatting. Then make a combined parameter just like you did in "Schedule 1". The combined parameter does not care about units. It just shows what the source parameter looks like in the schedule.
I haven't gone through the entire exercise to make sure it 100% works so you might hit a snag with the linked model as you noted, but I think it should work. Certainly worth a five minute test to see if you can change the formatting.
Then yes you would have to just make sure the two schedules are right next to each other, but that is probably easier than making a whole bunch of new parameters.
Duplicate the schedule, format L and W to feet unit, hide all columns except for L x W, and place the two schedules next to each other.
I have done it. I duplicated the schedule, duplicated the template, removed all unwanted layers, i then added Room L and W into the fields, changed the field format to feet and inches on both. The important part was that you have to hide them in view otherwise the combined parameter goes back to my default of mm.
Thanks for your help
Matt
