We are working on a renovation of a complex that has 14 different wings, each with its own code, like "ECES" or "ECCE". Each room has been labeled in a separate column based on what building it lives in. I need to create a room schedule that filters out every wing code excpet for 2. I cannot use the "does not equal" condtion with the remaining 12 codes, because there are not enough filter lines. Is there really no way to cange the filter condition to OR instead of AND?
You probably need 1 filter, only. Something that those 2 columns do have and the other elements do not. For example, a value such as "x". Now, how do you enter "x" quickly in hundreds of rows? Simple. Create a new parameter. Temporarily hide all fileds from the schedule except by two parameters, one is the field that contains the code for the wings, and the other is the new field tghat will contain "x" for just two wings. Then turn off "itemize every instance". The schedule should show only one row for every wing. Then, enter "x" only for the two wings that you want to filter out in the next step. Then, filter, or duplicate the schedule and filter by [your new field] "does not equal" "x". All this can be done in a few minutes. You don't have to type "x" hundreds of times, or use several criterias for filters.
The schedule filters do not "filter out" items. They "filter in" so to speak. So just make one for each of the two wing codes you want to keep.
When we filter the schedule by "does not equal" "x" we are leaving out of the schedule the elements whose value in that parameter is "x".
Wnen we filter the schedule by "equal" "x", only those elements whose value is "x" will be in the schedule.
So, the in & out is relative to the way we are filtering.
Just my opinion...

Right. We're "filtering in" all items that do not equal x. Just like I said.
Thank you both for the replies, much appreciated.
chrisplyler, unfortunately that method doesn't work since each line of the filter uses an "AND" conditional. That means that if I make a filter that says Building Code equals "ECES" AND equals "ECCE," the schedule turns up empty since a room can't have both values at once, has to be one or the other.
Alfredo, your solution works for the time being. And I like the "itemized every instance" way of changing multiple rooms, that's very helpful! The problem is, down the road, if we have to group other combinations of building wings together, we'll have to have several different values for the "x" column to group them in different ways, and it could quickly become bothersome keeping the groups organized.
It's pretty dissapointing how basic these sorting options are; having to create a new parameter just to effectively sort a list is perhaps evidence that this part of the program is not working ideally. It just seems like it would be so simple if we could change the way Revit filters, by changing AND to OR, or having a more customizeable list like Excel... but I guess that's an issue for Autodesk develpment, so your method will serve for now. Thank you again for the help!
Good morning,
I‘m trying to create a finish schedule for several rooms on the same floor with different room numbers that can’t be grouped as “greater than or lesser than” ..113,124,167,187. I forgot how to only show those numbers on a schedule. Anyone know the answer?

anyway I’ll try that when I get to work in the mean time what do y’all think?

If your going to brute force it by adding a filter for each room, there are better ways to do it.
I would suggest just adding a new yes/no parameter to the schedule to simply control if a given room is visible, filter by that parameter, and then hide it. Or we sometimes filter by the comments parameter, which I'm not a fan of, but it was in place before I was here.
There are tons of ways to do it. Adding an "includes" filter for every room is definitely not one of them.
Right. I added an "x" to the comments to the rooms I don't want to see and it removed those from the schedule, filtered by the x without creating a parameter. Anyways, I am curious how to create a yes/no parameter in a schedule?
Thank you
There are a couple of ways. Easiest is to open up the "fields" menu in the schedule, and hit the "new parameter" button.
Alright. Are you able to use this new parameter to hide an entire row for a room? If so, what "Type of Parameter, and Group Parameter under:" do I need to create this parameter for. When I just add a parameter to the schedule it just adds another check box to the schedule.
Thank you

Well it sounds like you already have the type (yes/no). The group doesn't really matter. That's for you to keep your parameters organized, so group it how you want.
Just adding the parameter doesn't filter the schedule. You need to go into the filters, add your new parameter, and apply the filter you'd like. Then check/uncheck each room as desired.
After that, if you'd like to hide your new parameter so it doesn't actually show on your schedule, go to formatting, select the parameter, and check "hidden field".
I highly suggest doing some research on parameters and schedules online. There are a lot of good videos on YouTube that will explain this and more.
A Yes/No parameter is no different than using another parameter like an 'x' in the comments. You're simply adding another column to the schedule to assist you in the filtering of items. by checking the Y/N parameter column checkmark for a row, you can have it indicate YES or NO (or leave it neutral, neither yes or no) and then use that value in the filter just like anything else. "If <y/n parameter name> equals YES" then it will keep it in the schedule. I prefer "If <y/n parameter name> DOES NOT EQUAL no" because then it keeps the neutral rows in and you can give them a real y/n value.
