Room finish parameters changing to materials

We set our room finishes with a code number and insert the code number in to the room parameters for finishes - wall finish, floor finish ...

Strangely, the parameters are all changing to text on their own. The text appears to match the material name of the layer of the object facing the room.

I can't find anything that is messing them up like this. Stupid thing is, I can imagine its a feature that some people really want. We have a room tag that nicely fits the room parameter numbers, but is useless with this automatic change.

Been looking through the backup files to try and figure out when it occurs and if I can spot what we were doing. We've not spotted it occurring in an open file, but looking through the backup files suggests that the change has occurred while we've been working on them, just not noticed.

It is happening on 2017 and 2018 projects at the moment. I've sent files to our reseller but they haven't found an answer yet.

Anyone got any suggestions as to the cause?

Are you using a key schedule to populate the code and the material description?

Looking at it again, I think the labels in the tags were changed to read the description instead of the code parameter.

Hi, no key schedules, just numbers in the room parameters and read by a tag. Been working fine for years. Its the content of the parameter that's changing, not what the tag is pointing at.

I've just found the trigger, but it doesn't help. The parameters automatically change when I edit a wall type!!!

Went to add a wall, duplicated an existing one and when I completed, the room parameters changed before I started to draw the new wall.

But where did the new information come from?  Are they the actual descriptions of the finishes that have been entered somewhere else?

They appear to match the material name of the objects facing the room.

[cid:[email protected]]

Ceiling

[cid:[email protected]]

Walls

[cid:[email protected]]

If there are more than 1 material, it adds them all comma separated.

Triggered by editing walls, ceiling or floor at present. Not tried anything else.

Cheers

Do you have any Add-ins that read the room bounding materials and write to Room's parameters?  It sounds like one.

HI,

I do have one which includes something similar, but not the same. I've requested our IT uninstall a copy so we can see if that solves it. That one only does floor and ceiling, not walls and it adds it to new dedicated parameters. So still don't know why it would do this.

Cheers

Seems the problem was Graitec PowerPack for Revit 2018. PowerPack 2018 R2 has solved the issue.

Thanks for your help.
