Room Area line & adding doors cut area

Hello ,

In our projects, we calculate room area as shown below , (hatched area is inside the room and purple line is room boundry line)

But when using Revit boundry line does not include that area.

i have read about differences about wall opening families and wall opening tools.

Is there any possible way to adjust room boundry area as shown above?

Not easily and not using Revit the way it's been designed to be used.

If I was tackling this (and I would argue strongly against having to do it but I get you don't always have a choice) I'd put an opening in the wall and use a room separation line to divide the spaces.  Then I'd create a new door family that isn't hosted in a wall and therefore hopefully won't act as a room boundary (I've not actually tried this so guessing slightly).

You will lose access to things like wall thickness so this would have to be set manually and if you move the wall or opening the door won't move with it so as i say it's not ideal but it *might* work.

Thank you for you reply.
i strongly agree with you to not to do with suggested way.it will take to much time to apply for hundreds of doors.
i think if there is a solution it would be solved inside door families.
Maybe cut with void or redifining referance plane.
i will try.

Good luck - if you manage to get anything do please post your solution. To the best of my knowledge there is no way to do what you want using a standard door - the boundary is defined by the host wall not the door itself.

Until a better solution it is easier to collect Room area data from carefully drawn floor element

If that is the route you are going down then this might help...
