Roofs by Extrusion

I have an angled roof above a stair. I want this roof to match the slope of the stair and to flatten out once atop the landing. I am therefore trying to match the inflection points of the roof with the stair landings.  I am using roof by extrusion

I draw the line that will used to extrude the roof but as the roof will be offset downwards this means that the inflection points will no longer line up. I am using a workaround: in elevation, I draw the line with the inflection points lined up, but at the base of the roof, then I offset these the thickness of the roof.  As such once this line gets offset by the thickness of the roof it will line up the inflection points once again.

This is a pain. Is there a way of getting the roof by extrusion to offset upwards, like roof by footprint?

You can just move it up?

- Offset the extrusion lines the same thickness of the roof when you draw them
- Use a ceiling with a slope arrow

Could you provide an image of what you are attempting to do?  I am not sure i understand the exact condition.
