Hi, my firm recently made the switch from CAD and SketchUp to Revit and I am still pretty inexperienced with the program. I'm having a tough time finding information for some things, particularly roofs. We do mainly residential construction - I've watched countless videos on roofs, but each project has its own unique conditions, and I can't find a video or text that has the particular conditions I'm looking to accomplish (I've pieced together information from a bunch of videos to accomplish what I have to this point, but I can't figure out the rest). Is there somewhere you can point me to find a comprehensive look at roof conditions? Perhaps I need to take a class to get this level of information, but I'm looking for the most comprehensive set of information I can find - I don't care if it is a video that is multiple hours long or a text that is 100 pages.
Thank you,
John
There are a variety of resources available online. Lynda.com is one. Noted author Paul Aubin is very active online and has a variety of online materials posted. Or you can the try the AutoDesk Knowledge Network at https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products try
This help topic illustrates the 7 basic roof shapes Revit can make. It sounds like you are going to have to combine different roof elements to get the shapes you are after. The topic show a "combined" roof where the different techniques are mixed to make one large roof. A sample file can be downloaded from the topic as well so you can try and reverse engineer how to create a combined roof. Might not be all you need, but could be a good place to start.

Like others have said Lynda.com is a great resource! Also, if you have a specific issue ask someone on here!
