Hi All,
Is anyone able to help model this roof for me, please?
I only have REVIT LT and really struggling without the roof nodes. I attach the family which has a Sketchup mass imported.
I need it into a revit project file using a roof so I can import into my project file.
I anyone knows how to model in LT I'd love to know.
Using roof slop does not work. ![]()

Sorry, should have said I only have the LT version of REVIT.
I cannot get it work I've tried every way I can.
I don't see why LT cannot create this very simple Roof. Did you see the Roof Sketch in the second screenshot above?
The Eaves are sloping too. That's the issue I have.
Theres a 300mm difference between them from end to end. If -300mm base offset one end it still keeps the eaves level.
Maybe just model all the slopes as single roofs, instead of trying to solve it all at once with a roof by footprint.
Hi,
Thanks for this. I cannot see if you have solved the eaves issue. If you can see with the red line. The difference in eaves height along the roof length. Its an easy build accept for this issue.
That does not solve the eaves difference? Using roof slope does go a long way. But I am just asking if full REVIT users if they can model this?
Will properly take seconds with full REVIT and the advanced modelling tools available?
Do LT have modify sub elements?
Yes I have. Sketch the boundary exactly the way I'm showing it in the screenshot above (#6). Omit the Define Slope on the overhang that protrudes beyond the other eaves.
Okay, I see what you are talking about. The Plate Line is sloped in the longitudinal direction. Are you modeling this hip based on an as-built - maybe a Point Cloud?
Hi,
It's essentially a refurbishment project on an existing barn. It's been modelled in sketchUp by someone else and I need it into REVIT.
The more I understand what is going on inside Revit LT, the more I see how cripple it is. Do Revit LT floor also have the ability to change points? Here is roof model and see if you are able to adjust from your end.
So, it's an exiting structure. One that has settled over time and is no longer plumb and level. Likely not structurally sound either. So, are you addressing this in the "refurbishing" or leaving it as is? I'm not understanding the point of bringing it into the Project, by way of a Family. Essentially, it would be a 'dumb' block. If that's all you are looking for, then load it into the Project.
Hi, I just added it to the family because I was seeing if I had better flexibility using the generic model tools as there no in-place mass in LT. I don't mind it being dumb. Just needs to look right in elevation.
It's a listed building so the roof line needs to stay the same.
That's awesome thanks.
No, you cannot edit the nodes, it just goes to the basic edit tools when you try and adjust. Its the same with floor commands also.
These are the two main drawbacks of REVIT LT. It's rare I need this kind of roof modelled. I just cannot stretch to the additional £2,000.00 per year for full revit.
