Just learning Revit for a class and when I go to draw roof by footprint, no prompt appears to create a level 2, so it ends up in the floor. My current solution is to offset it from the floor by the height of the walls and it seems to get the job done, but it feels pretty scuffed and I'm sure it'd lead to issues in a bigger project. Any solutions to get Revit to fix itself and deliver the prompt? Thanks
I don't think any sort of prompt exists. You need to create the level with the level command. That is unless your instructions say otherwise.
Do you even have a level above? If so, check to see if there is a Revit INI File setting for that "Lowest Level Notice" dialog box.

You could also just exit Revit, delete the user Revit INI File and restart Revit. Revit will automatically create a new user INI file using the default OOTB settings.
Here's the location of the user Revit.ini file. This is the one you want to delete.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\<product name and release>
