is there a real solution to this problem...
I have had this happen on occasion, and today is one of those occasions..
created a file in Revit LT2020..saved it on Friday.. try to re-open it and get the error message that says, " my file cannot be opened in Revit LT because it was last saved in a version of Revit prior to 8.1"
I have looked at some of the history of this issue, and the solution that is offered is not acceptable.. (try using the student version to open my file)....
Anybody have any better options...
Try opening it with the oldest version you have available.
a little history....
i was working over the weekend using my lap top and saved the file from there. When I tried opening it from the desktop this morning, it would not open. The file was saved to a folder on my "drop box". When I went back to my lap top and saved the file to a thumb drive, then loaded it into the desktop, everything was fine..
Lesson learned... drop box and cloud storage can be iffy...
yeah I'm thinking it was a corrupted file issue... since i was able to open it without error when i used my thumb drive to transfer to the desktop... I've had it happen before but was not able to isolate a cause... I think I've got it figured out...
Before posting the issue, I checked the other forum queries for a possible answer.. the only one listed seemed to say to use the student version or open an earlier version of your file... I wanted more than just a better solution, i wanted to know why it was happening... i.e. corrupted file
Make sure that the version of LT is the same as the original version. Such as if it was originally Revit LT 2020.1 you are not trying to open it with Revit LT 2020.
