Revit Won’t Launch – “Unrecoverable Error Has Occurred” on Lenovo Desktop

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here can help me. I’m a student using Revit on my Lenovo desktop, and every time I try to open the program, I get the following error message:

"Unrecoverable error has occurred. The program will now be terminated."

I’ve tried:

  • Restarting and shutting down my computer

  • Updating my system

  • Reinstalling Revit

Nothing seems to be working, and Autodesk support said they can’t provide technical help for my current software setup. I have several assignments due soon and really need to get Revit working again ASAP.

If anyone has had this issue or knows what might be causing it, I’d be super grateful for any suggestions or fixes.

Thanks in advance

You have to provide a discreption of your current Hardware and OS setup as well as which version of Revit...

Additionally, it would also be helpful if you provide a copy of the journal file right after the crash. (ie: start session, and once it crashes, post the journal prior to restarting the program)

Without those, I doubt anyone would be able to guess what is going on at your end

Did you try a different version of Revit?

Most probably, your C:\ is full. You need a minimum of 50GB ... but a 100GB of free space is recommended.

Try also to keep windows updates current.

Graphics drivers up to date?

Close as many programs as possible then perform these steps:

In the folder %LocalAppData%\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 202x  delete CefCache folder.

In the folder %temp% select ALL items and delete them - skip what you can't delete.

If none works:

Install the "Autodesk Single Sign On Component" https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/tsarticles/ts/A785RG35hP8oUR96WrYkn.html .

Install the "Autodesk Licensing Service" https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/tsarticles/ts/f5IhBc15i0kOwzBb8lcEN.html .

Do you use the Desktop Connector? if so, remove all projects from 'My Selection' list.

Do not uninstall Revit. It can be almost impossible to re-install, and this does not solve most Revit issues.
