REVIT V.S. ALLPLAN -----???

Hi All,

Our team of 30 has been using Allplan for many years now. The entire production system is based on it.

We are now exploring other modeling platforms, and Revit has been so far the most promising candidate.

Anyone here switched from Allplan to Revit? can you please share the most important advantages and disadvantages - production-wise?

The team is based in Germany, where for some reason, Allplan is still very popular.

Thanks!

The main advantage for Revit over any other BIM platform is its compatibility with lots of other software especially that Autodesk now is offering more and more software for every discpline.

I have helped 4 firms in Germany migrate from Allplan to Revit and all I can tell you is that they are more than happy they took that step. I don't think those 2 platforms are practically comparable..

Advantages are countless; starting from the commercial value of the construction package offered by Autodesk vs that of Allplan, all the way down to open possibilities in terms of automation, quantification, Datei Austausch mit anderen software, Clash Detektion, Zusammenarbeit und Koordination, smooth Kollaboration zwischen den Niederlassungen und 3rd Party firmen

The Downside is, the learning curve and getting everyone on board, the hardest part is the latter...one thing in common between all 4 firms was that many team members did not like to venture into new software even with the incentives the management offered. You will need a competent and experience inhouse BIM Manager to lead the transition and good BIM consultant (there are many firms in Germany but 90% of which are mehhhh…)

Wenn du neugierig bist, mehr über die Erfahrungen anderer deutscher Firmen zu erfahren, es gibt auch ein deutschsprachiges Forum, das du unter folgendem Link besuchen kannst:

many thanks @RDAOU ! as usual, great input.

I tried Revit seariously since for one month now. The bottom line is, that after 5 months with -also new to- Allplan, Revit was a breath of fresh air. Complex but not complicated, modeling environment very user-friendly, connections in all directions...

Allplan..

Teilbilder - Layers on and off.. up to 30% of the workload..

simple stuff needing 3-4 clicks instead one..

crashed multiple times..

etc.

etc.
