Hello All,
I'm interested in Revit tutoring/help. I would love for someone to be able to help me with:
1). Finding Revit components for their projects, and modifying Revit components in the family editor that were not able to be found.
2). How to make a Revit render look like a V-ray render.
I've seen many shared projects that have seem to have mastered both topics. These areas have been my biggest struggles with Revit. If you can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Whitley Bennett
Post a specific problem, with supporting screenshots / families / projects. Someone should be able to come up with a solution.
Hi. I'm new to Revit also, so I can relate to your situation. There are hundreds of Revit videos on YouTube, and maybe a few are actually helpful. So far I've learned the most from lynda.com. It's a paid subscription, but the tutorials are far and away the best I've seen.
Good luck!
Bill

You could get V-Ray for Revit, but it won't look as good as if you did it in 3ds Max or another 3d application. There is no magic button for renders. It takes a lot of time, practice, and patience.
Thank you for all of your suggestion!
To be a little more specific, finding components have been a challenge. There's sources like Hermon Miller that has Revit files, but not all manufactures have Revit files. Which then results in you having to make your own, or modifying something similar to it. Knowing where to look is key and knowing how to modify what you want is key as well. Having someone who has wisdom in this area would really help me in developing a solid workflow.
For Example:
2. If you cant find the files this is my workflow
Model the components in sketch.
Focus on the structure and architectural features in Revit
Render in V-Ray and or the Cloud
I use Photoshop when I cant find components
Or someone just has a workflow in Revit as far as editing materials and modifying components without the use of the other software's.
If someone can share their wisdom and their journey in developing their workflow that would be extremely insightful.
Thank you,
Whitley
It looks like you're trying to use Revit as a 3d modeling and rendering program, is that all you're after? If so you have have more luck with another program, that is made for that like 3ds Max, Maya, or even SketchUp. If you're looking for an easier solution at the cost of visual fidelity (and your bank account) you may want to try something like Lumion or TwinMotion.
Yes the 3D Modeling and Renderings is what I'm after, I will give the other software you mentioned a try!
Thank you!
