Revit Systems

This is the first time I am attempting to build an HVAC system in revit (for school). I am try to connect my supply to my VAV through duct work.  Both are rectangular openings so I am using rectangular ducts.  I am wondering if I should load every rectangular fittings family so that revit can generate my layout better?  Because revit can not complete some of the connections to the ducts.  Is there a better way to fix this?  Or should I just load all fitting families and hope revit can generate a layout?

Hello,

First you have to check the Rectangular Duct sizes in the Mechanical settings.

You can set them also trough the routing preferences dialog.

Here you set the Sizes that are being used in the Duct Size calculation.

Then you have to setup the Duct Type and routing preferences.

In the routing preferences you select the families for the different part types.

Elbow’s, Tee or Tap’s and transitions are the most important families that you need for the layout tool.

You need families that can handle every size. Small and Big.

When laying out your Duct system you have to be aware that duct fittings have enough space so the fitting can be placed.

The most fitting that are in the standard Revit Template can handle small and large sizes.

Hope this info helps.
