Revit should by default relinquish elements you don't edit

Thoughts?
Simple release/relinquish when you click something like a wall but don't change anything about it and proceed to something else.
Saves so much time avoiding syncing just to relinquish elements you had touched eg. as part of a review process.
Large projects with an abundance of people in 1 model where difficult to avoid overlap, the ability to relinquish without syncing would be amazing!
Thanks and appreciated

I'm surprised that someone hasn't told you to go to the Ideas forum to post your wish-list item there by now but...

"automatic?" the definition of that can be debated given different contexts, and why does it even borrow an element that you don't actually modify in any way???

However, if we skip that point and skip to the second aspect of your post "without having to save to central"...

How about a button to Relinquish all of your borrowed elements? Perhaps something like this one:

Just selecting an element does not borrow it. Only making a change to the element will result in borrowing. What kind of action are you seeing element borrowing happen that you don't "do anything" to cause?

But if only making a change borrows the element, what is the Relinquish all of your borrowed elements button for that GaryOrrMBI suggested?

Isn't that obvious?

It allows you to relinquish ownership without synching.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

You can deliberately borrow an element via Right click - Make element editable.

Owning a workset (right click - make workset editable) also checks out (borrows) all the books (elements) on the shelf (workset) even though you haven't altered any of them...yet.

FWIW, Relinquish All Mine (RAM) rarely works because if an element has been changed a sync is required to save that change. RAM only works when there are only unaltered borrowed elements. We have to close the file without saving and then relinquish borrowed elements to avoid saving changes we didn't want to make, then create a new local abandoning the changes made earlier.
