so I am having trouble importing a CAD survey DWG file into revit and setting up it up correctly. Do I need to use shared coordinates or can I link the CAD to center to center then press acquire coordinates. Then im not sure how to get the correct True North set up..?

hello, you can refer to these LINK and LINK. thanks
Hello @Anonymous!
I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Revit Forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!
I understand, you wish to set up the coordinate systems in your Revit project, based on an existing site-survey plan in dwg format.
Linking the existing site-survey dwg file using "Center to Center" > Acquiring coordinates from the linked dwg is the right approach.
From that point on your Revit project file is indeed sharing coordinates with the linked dwg file.
Once it is done, you can use this model as a host file for coordination purposes - for example, you can link in further Revit project files (buildings), move them to the right position on the site and publish coordinates into them.
You can find a detailed, step-by-step description and video guide about this workflow here:
