Revit Server Administrator and the death of Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer is set to "retire" June 15, 2022. Any idea what the fate will be the fate of Revit Server Administrator (and Revit Server by extension)? I know Autodesk is pushing hard for BIM360, but our firm can't be the only one content with their setup and unwilling to transition towards increased per user fees.

The firm is content or that one guy in the firm how doesn't really want the change? Usually it is the latter cause firms are content only when the job get done regardless of the means. Besides when one mentions extra cost, isn't/wasn't Revit Server and those administering it always an annoying extra/added cost? Personally I am all in for the new plan and cant wait to get rid of the server, the annoying IT whining and reallocating the admin to more useful task on the projects

PS: I never like IE and Edge isn't really any better

I am that guy, and we are content. We have a very low maintenance, low overhead setup that works for us for both internal and remote users. We are able to maintain complete control of files, are not beholden to Autodesks cloud, and overall this is significantly more cost effective than adding a dozen BIM360 seats at nearly $1k/user/year. This isn't for everyone, of course, but we'd like to continue to have this option. We tested BIM360 and it is an excellent solution. Perhaps this will be incorporated into a standard Revit license. More likely we'll simply be compelled to significantly increase our software costs to continue to operate as we do.

PS: IE and Edge are hands down the best browsers to download alternative web browsers

Did you take  into account deducting your cost :); in reality, that alone should spare the firm some 40-50 seats ... nothing personal.

Unless you had/have 10 seats and were running a 50 Users operation, the figures and impact you mentioned are not close to accurate. I will not argue figures though, there is at least a dozen of blogs discussing the cost comparison and the transition...

I'll admit complete ignorance of any accounting benefits to either means. I just know that besides some one-time hardware purchases, and a small amount of my time to setup and maintain, we aren't spending $10k a year as we would to move 10 users to BIM360. We do run a tight ship, and I have just enough tech ability to maintain a system that makes us a unique case.

Nothing personal taken 🙂

So you have currently some 3 seats @ ca 6.3k per year to support 10 users, today you need ca. 16k per year to support the same 10 users lol now it makes sense why you are pissed...Sorry I thought its a slightly bigger firm
