REVIT: Scale in one axis only

We need the ability to scale in one axis only.  Even the ability to scale in 2 axes.
This is such a useful way of scaling multiple elements, multiple lines, and stretch them simultaneously and proportionally to each other in one or two directions.  
The workarounds take way too long. 
it was useful in AutoCAD and also in Rhinoceros3D, or FormIT.  I can see this be super useful in REVIT

how? i tried and it kept bringing me here, so i thought it was a default location.  i knew it felt like i was not doing it right but it kept showing up here
