One of my coworkers has a strange thing happening with their Revit... Wondering if someone had something similar or has ideas of what the issue could be.
Using Revit 2023. Sometimes when working on the model (local copy linked to a central model), Revit would freeze up for a few seconds, and when it unfreezes it undoes about 10 or so changes to the model, and the Redo button is greyed out. What is strange to me is that the user did not sync before this happened, and claims it just randomly occurred. Happened 3 times so far.
I asked him to keep a log from now on, noting the time & work lost during each occurrence. But other than that I am not sure what else I could do to solve this issue. (I guess can always try reinstalling Revit?)
Hi,
Could be an addin or something doing things in the background, but no way to tell for sure without looking at some journal files of sessions when this behaviour happens.
If you could share a couple journals I'd be happy to have a look.

Sorry about ultra late response, I thought I responded but the transmission must've glitched out in the matrix.
@esk0r thanks for bringing up journal files, did not know about them. Will keep a look out now that I know about their existence.... Funny thing, since asking to log times of these occurrences haven't heard back from the user ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@emodderman @We have individual licenses and run updates regularly.
this has happened to me two or three times in the last year too. i just lost the last 20-30 minutes of work. i undid a single command and then suddenly i was back in time at least 30 or 40 commands earlier. went up to redo but it was greyed out. i did not sync or save or do anything odd in that moment.
This has just happened to me. I've lost the whole days work. Revit froze for about a minute and then regenerated with all modifications gone. I can't undo and am wary of exiting and re-opening. I still have the file open. Is there anything I can do?
This is with Revit 2022
Hey, sorry for the late reply. I’d assume tou probably ended up losing your work.
FWIW, my main suspect would be addins, for that behaviour. Even if it doesn’t get your lost work back, still worth spending time identifying the cause.
The journal file for that session should have info about what went wrong. Happy to do a post-mortem analysis and see if I can find a smoking gun for you.
