Revit project browser and properties panels not found despite using user interface

Revit project browser and properties panels not found despite using user interface and toggling those options. It seems weird as I was just using it moments before. I do have 3 monitors and sometimes the properties and project browser windows appear on them but not this time. I even unplugged two of the monitors with the same result.

Thank you!

Sean

Remove file C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 202x\ENU\UIState.dat and try again.

Thank you for your solution. I'm concerned to remove this file (I don't even know what it is lol). Is it risky to remove this? Thank you.

Nothing will happen but if you do not feel safe, do not delete it...Instead do the following:

  • Close revit
  • Rename the folder C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 20XX to example:  Autodesk Revit 20XX_BAK
  • When you restart, Revit will recreate a new clean user profile with all the User Interface pallets docked

if for whichever odd reason, you wish to restor the old one 🙂 you wouls delete the one you just recreated above and rename the Autodesk Revit 20XX_BAK to its original name

PS: always backup before deleting anything even if it is safe to delete

Thank you.

I did delete the file (before I received your latest message) but when I reopened Revit, same thing: no panels. I threw it at ChatGTP and it told me basically everything you said, yet still no panels. So weird.

I think I'll uninstall and reinstall Revit. Hopefully that will fix it.

I'm wondering if its worth reconnecting your extra monitors and try toggling pp and pb on and off to see if they do show up on them. Make sure you have nothing else open.

Also try changing the screen resolution to see if this brings the palette back:

  1. Right-click Desktop > Display settings > Scale and layout.

  2. Change the screen resolution down to 100%.

  3. See if you can locate the properties panel and project browser that was left off-screen.

If that doesn't work then see bellow as per other suggestions :

It might not fix it either if the key is not cleaned in the registery editor

Make sure to close revit first

  • Open the Registery editor and go to following path (replace XX with the version u r using)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 20XX

  • look for the following key and delete it
    • UIPanelSettings

Rename the folder from previous reply to _Bak ...then restart revit
