I got this question today....Why are the vertical pipes shown as a single circle? I know that the pipe types have and inside and outside diameter associated with them, but even at "fine" detail level, they display as a single circle. Is it true that you cannot display the Inside + Outside diameter in a plan view or detail view? Just trying to avoid the "Well I could easily do that in CAD."

It's just a symbol, not a true cut view of the pipe.
If you see the properties of a pipe system, you will see the symbols and their meaning:
Turn Thin Lines OFF and see the results of modeling that level of detail.
Are you referring to a Pipe with an open center vs a solid extrusion?
if so. it because it's not "needed" it would just be extra model content bogging down the model. the Information is there in all the parameters and Segment/System/Type settings why does it have to be hallowed out too

I agree with you for plan views but not for detail views. This is with lineweights at 1 1/2" scale. It is a detail of a piping enclosure. The vertical pipes look like mechanical ducts. Nevertheless, I think the question is answered. Thank you all.
For enlarged or Detail views, you can always add detail lines if needed.

If the intent is to have pipes look like pipes and not ducts in enlarged views, I think converting the fitting types to the appropriate pipe material (PVC elbows vs copper sweat elbows vs flanged elbows, etc...) goes a lot farther than attempting to show material thickness. It may be visible in PDF format when you zoom far in, but are your plotters equipped to show 0.058" separation between two lines?
I agree, it's really one of those things that were "always" done during CAD days - but in actuality never necessary. The transition from CAD is just sooo hard for some folks.
